Workshop on Research Methodology in Communication Studies and Social Sciences was held on 11th December, 2015. Jamia Vice-Chancellor inaugurates a ten-day Workshop on “Research Methodology in Communication Studies and Social Sciences”
Prof. Talat Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia inaugurated a ten-day workshop from December 9 to 19, 2015 on “Research Methodology in Communication Studies and Social Sciences” organized by the Centre for Culture, Media & Governance, Jamia Millia Islamia.
Prof. Talat Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia, in his inaugural remarks, observed that Research Methodology as an academic discipline is a prerequisite for effective research. Prof Ahmad called upon the research scholars to make the best use of the workshop and the facilities at the Centre and benefit from Centre’s expertise in the field of communication research.
Earlier, Prof. Biswajit Das, Director, Centre for Culture, Media & Governance, JMI introduced the objective of the workshop and highlighted that the Centre is the intersection of communication and Social Sciences. It has attracted scholars from diverse disciplines who are engaged in research that are interdisciplinary in nature. The proposed workshop would showcase ongoing research activities at the Centre and discuss methods of engaging with interdisciplinary research in communication and social sciences. Besides learning about methods and techniques in research it would also encourage the participants to get familiar with research tools and software both qualitative as well as quantitative such as SPSS and Atlas.ti by using them.
The session ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Manoj Kumar, the Coordinator of the workshop.
